After this weekend’s concerts in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Sparks wish to thank everyone for the tremendous response they received in both concert cities. Also, the band wants to send a special thanks to both Randy Lewis at the LA Times and John Payne at the LA Weekly for their continued support and praise of Lil’ Beethoven and the band. In the Monday April 12 edition of the Times, Lewis comments after seeing the Henry Fonda Theater show, “Lil’ Beethoven does raise legitimate points about the lack of imagination and ambition in much of what’s on the charts these days and brazenly challenges fans and other musicians to expand their horizons. Conceptually and musically, it’s (Sparks) most accomplished work.” And Payne states in the LA Weekly show preview, ” In an era when pop sameness has reached true crisis proportions, Ron and Russell were forced, you see, to take drastic measures, to strive, to make something magnificent, and not just settle for easy pop poo-poo. And in case you hadn’t heard, their live shows are mind-blowers.” And I think those in attendance at San Francisco and LA will agree, these shows were truly mind-blowers!!
