Sparks at Meltdown

Last night Ron and Russell returned to London’s Royal Festival to perform at Patti Smith’s Meltdown The evening was entitled Stand Bravely Brothers and Sparks joined numerous other artists (including Marc Almond, The Finn Brothers, Antony, Martha Wainwright, Tilda Swinton and David Thomas) to pay homage to Bertold Brecht. With Ron at the grand piano, and accompanied by the London Sinfonietta, Russell sang The Mandalay Song. This was the perfect piece for them to perform – and as many people said after the concert, it sounded as though it was a Sparks song Ron and Russell were really touched by the huge applause they received when they walked out on stage and likewise the applause and cheers they received after their performance. All of the artists performing (including Ron and Russell) returned to the stage at the end of the concert for a rousing rendition of The Solidarity Song
